Blog Life Crisis

With just 3 months to go until the end of this year, a huge part of me is determined to fulfill the New Years resolutions that I made this year.

I set myself quite a few of them and I have come delightedly close to achieving most of them. I am happy to confirm that my goal to lose weight has been achieved with 35lbs lost since I began on January 14th this year. I have a way to go yet and it's definitely had its ups and downs, but I'm proud of my progress nonetheless.

Additionally, I have been incredibly good at being more honest about what I want, and it's gotten me far. A wave of redundancies hit the company I was working for in May and I unfortunately was just a temporary member of staff (remember my resolution to get a permanent job?). I moved to another company where I managed to get a permanent job and after a decent college try, I still wasn't enjoying it. It wasn't what I wanted to do, it wasn't marketing. So I began looking for another job in marketing. As chance would have it, my old company needed people in a department I had been aiming to get into since I joined. I interviewed. I got offered on the spot. A permanent job in marketing at a company I adore - definitely a success that I'm still smiling about!

Not so much lately, but when I had a train commute I definitely read more. I was getting through a book every two weeks and I loved that feeling. A friend of mine recently donated me three shopping bags full of books and I intend to read each and every one of them! I'm going to find a way to make time for reading now I've lost that commute.

Finally, I promised to write more - this is the one area where I haven't been as successful. I feel a lot of it has to do with the design of the old blog. I just didn't feel inspired to contribute to it and I didn't (still don't) have an idea about what direction I want this blog to go in since I have so many ideas about posts that don't quite correlate.

But I've decided that I don't care anymore - I need to just get my fingers on a keyboard and get to it! Who cares if I post product reviews next to recipes next to a book review. It's my blog after-all.

(I will keep my Tudor Sitcom elsewhere because that's only going to be for niche tastes.)

So, with a keen desire to fulfill all of my New Years Resolutions, I have re-designed the blog. I have opened up my beautiful leather bound journal and put pen to paper. I have broken out the box of colouring pens/pencils/pastels and put my ideas on paper. It's early days yet, and I know I've made these promises before - but I already feel better for giving myself a creative release and I sincerely hope I can keep it up this time!
